Board of Trustees

    LEAP Academy University Charter School is a public school chartered in New Jersey.    The school is governed by Board of Trustees with responsibility for policy making and oversight in all operational areas, including curriculum, personnel and finances.   
     The Board is comprised of three representatives from Rutgers University (including the Board Chair ), four Parent Representatives, and Public Members representing local and regional stakeholders. 
     The Board meets six times per year (bi-monthly) and discusses major action items and all business related to the school.  All meetings are open to the public.

   
 
 
  Dr. Santiago is a Distinguished Service Professor at Rutgers University and Director of the Center for Strategic Urban Community Leadership.  She led the efforts to establish LEAP Academy and is a staunch supporter of charter schools statewide.  At Rutgers she teaches in the Graduate Department of Public Policy & Administration.
   
  Mary T. Sheil - Current Term: Through Nov. 2011
  Ms. Sheil is a retired state employee who worked for 25 years in the Dept. of Environmental Protection.  She is now a property manager for her own small business and is a philanthropist with interests in the arts and education.
   
  Peter Burke - Current Term: Through June 2012
  Mr. Burke is the Principal of Brandywine Senior Care in Moorestown, NJ. 
Mr. Burke serves as Board Treasurer but is a non-voting member.
   
 
  Ms. Edmond is a Program Specialist with the Camden Board of Social Services and a Pastor of a congregation in Camden City.  She is appointed as a Parent Representative and serves as the Board Secretary.
   

 
 

Dr. Pritchett is the new Chancellor for the Rutgers University– Camden campus and a former professor and Associate Dean for the Univ. of Pennsylvania Law School.

  Dr. Garcia is the Associate Dean of the Graduate School at Rutgers–Camden and a Professor with the Department of Psychology.

Mr. Sunkett works on economic development and is currently on the staff of the NJ Casino Reinvestment Authority.   Dr. Gomez is an Assistant Professor at Rutgers University–Camden and works in the Graduate Department of Public Policy & Administration.

Dyanne P. Westerberg, D.O., FAAFP

  Dyanne P. Westerberg
Mr. Szpreingel is a Rutgers–Camden graduate and currently works as a Finance Specialist with Vanguard.  

Ms. Young works for Verizon as the Vice President for Public Affairs and is also involved in several community ventures.

Dr. Westerberg has practiced medicine for over 25 years and is a Medical Chief in Cooper Hospital’s Dept. of Family Medicine, a faculty member at UMDNJ and RWJ Medical School, a Medical Director at the Coriell Institute, and the new Resident Physician at the Rutgers/LEAP Health Center.

Mr. Everingham is the founder of Everingham & Kerr, Inc, a merger and acquisitions firm in Mt.Laurel, NJ. 

 

Dr. Houshmand is the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs for Rowan University; at Drexel University he is the Dean of the Goodwin College of Professional Studies and a Professor in the College of Engineering. 

Mr. Delgado is the Executive Director of the Cramer Hill Community Development Corporation (CHCDC).

Ms. Miranda works for Cooper Hospital and is a member of the LEAP’s Parents Council.  

Mr. Nieves is a parent of two students at LEAP and a local business leader in the City of Camden.
