As Faculty Director of the LEAP Academy University Charter School Fabrication Lab, I would like to personally welcome you into our website. We invite you to explore the myriad of opportunities that exist through our Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) program and projects. It is an exciting time to be part of an excellent and motivated group of students, staff and teachers. Given the current lower percentage of minorities and females entering the STEAM fields, we are committed to bringing creative opportunities to all students by exposing them to up-to-date technology with applied and experiential STEAM-based projects. For example, we have acquired 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, milling machines, biochemistry and chemistry equipment’s and micro technologies which students can safely operate to create, build and test. Having these tools has enables us to develop water filtration devices, waste cooking oil collectors, 3D printed digital microscopes, engaging tables, game boards and much more products.
I also am excited to announce the opening of our new fabrication laboratory in our new High School Building which will house more than 15 3D printers, a truly “Markers Room” which will enable our students to quickly create, develop, build and test prototypes and products.
