STUDENT ENROLLMENT
ENROLLMENT ELIGIBILITY
Enrollment at the LEAP Academy is available to interested families who agree to the organizational philosophy and mission of the school as set forth by the charter and the Board of Trustees. *Children entering Kindergarten must reach the age of five by October 1, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18 A:38-5.
ENROLLMENT PREFERENCE (based on N.J.A.C. 6A:11-4.4)
Students are issued “Family Numbers” based on the following preference:
- Students who were enrolled at LEAP Academy the preceding year.
- Siblings of students who were enrolled at LEAP Academy the preceding year and plan to return.
- New families who reside in Camden.
- New families who reside outside of Camden.
NEW ENROLLMENT LOTTERY
Once all eligible continuing students are placed at the appropriate grade level, available spaces are opened for new enrollment and an Enrollment Lottery is held to select new students.
The lottery is conducted each January in the following order:
- Siblings (Family Numbers starting with “000 to 999”)
Beginning with the highest grade available (12) down to the lowest grade (K).
- Camden City (Family Numbers starting with “1000 to 1999”)
Beginning with the highest grade available (12) down to the lowest grade (K).
- Non-Camden City (Family Numbers starting with “2000”)
Beginning with the highest grade available (12) down to the lowest grade (K).
PARENT PACKETS
Once a student has been admitted for enrollment, parents will be sent Parent Packets, which must be completed and submitted with all required forms and documentation.
> See Required Information for Admitted students above.
> Contact LEAP Enrollment Specialist for enrollment form advising.
WAITING LIST
Once all available seats are filled (60 seats for each grade level K-12), a Waiting List is established. A student on the Waiting List fills any seats that are vacated during the school year. Parents will be notified by LEAP Enrollment Specialist.
ENROLLMENT / PARENT ORIENTATION
The Enrollment Orientation has been established to provide families with the opportunity to get to know the school and understand the school’s mission, organization and curriculum, as well as the requirements for families and students. This Orientation Meeting also provides the school the opportunity to get to know future families and students. The Orientation Meeting will be held during the month of August, prior to the start of the new school year.
CONTINUING ENROLLMENT
Each year, parents must submit continued enrollment applications for their students. Forms will be mailed home in October. Failure to submit applications by the appropriate deadlines will result in loss of enrollment for the following school year.
Complete Enrollment policies and procedures available
in LEAPAcademy Student/Parent Handbook.
