Requirements For Graduation

In order to receive a diploma from LEAP Academy University Charter School, students must fulfill the requirements established by the New Jersey Department of Education and the LEAP Board of Trustees.  Students who have successfully completed the core curriculum courses, elective courses, and the HSPA (High School Proficiency Assessment) shall be eligible for a LEAP Academy University High Charter School diploma.

The courses (required and elective) necessary for graduation are as follows:

  • 4 years of English Language Arts Literacy (5 credits per year / 20 total)
  • 4 years of Health/Physical Education (5 credits per year / 20 total)
  • 3 years of Mathematics (15 total credits)
  • 3 years of Science (15 total credits)
  • 2 years of United States History (10 total credits)
  • 1 year of World History and/or Cultures (5 total credits)
  • 2 years of World Languages (10 total credits)
  • 2 years of Fine, Practical and/or Performing Arts (10 total credits)
  • Elective Courses/Clinics (35 total credits)

140 Total credits required for graduation.

*Any student who fails a required subject must pass that course before graduation.

Seniors shall not receive a diploma from LEAP Academy University High Charter School until all obligations have been met. This includes, but is not limited to, library fines, book fines and all other financial obligations. Students must also pass the HSPA (High School Proficiency Assessment) or the SRA (Special Review Assessment) process.
