International Studies trip will take LEAP students to Spain
December 1, 2009
Ten LEAP Academy high school students and two teachers will be traveling to Spain next spring as part of LEAP’s new International Study Abroad program. The international trip was approved by the LEAP Academy Board of Trustees at its November meeting, and it will be paid for by LEAP.
From April 2-9, LEAP teachers Ana Garcia and Yvette Hernandez will travel to Madrid and Barcelona with LEAP students Julie Cruz, Michael Espinosa, Tomas Flores, Gabriel Molina, José Napoleon, Stephanie Nunez, Stephen Phillips, Mercedes Rolon, Jocelyn Rosa, and Dayron Torres.
These students were part of an International Studies course last year that introduced them to the history and culture of Spain and this trip will put what they learned into practice, Ms. Garcia said.
The eight-day trip includes three days in Madrid and three in Barcelona, with a stopover in Zaragoza. Among the many activities, students will have the chance to tour each city’s architectural and cultural centers and even make day-trips to Segovia, Girona, and Figueres, including a stop at the Salvador Dalí Museum. |
