Camden Green AmbassadorsAugust 9, 2018
LEAP high school students had the opportunity to present on their paid, summer internship experience at Phoenix Park on the Camden Waterfront.
The students, between rising 10th and rising 12th grades, all had the opportunity to work with the Camden County Municipal Utility Authority in the Camden Green Ambassadors Summer Internship program. Throughout the summer, participants learned about environmental issues related to the Camden community and beyond. Students were able to work with organizations like the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Environmental Protection and visit the KROC Center, Leed’s Point and Petty’s Island in efforts to gain a better understanding of things like pollution and its harmful effects on our community.
It was a great experience to see our students present their work alongside new friends they were able to make, not only at CCMUA and other agencies, but also with students from other schools around the city. After speaking with our students about the upcoming air quality project that LEAP will be participating in, many of them have expressed interest in assisting in any way they can this school year!
It really is amazing to see our students grow as learners and it is even more rewarding to see that they are excited to share what they have learned.
