LEAP Academy scholar accepted full athletic scholarship to the University of Rhode Island

September 26, 2018

Please join the LEAP community in congratulating one of our graduating seniors on accepting a FULL athletic scholarship to the University of Rhode Island for women’s basketball! Brazil Harvey-Carr is in the top of her class in the LEAP Early College Program, studying Liberal Arts. As she prepares to be a Physical Education & Kinesiology Major at URI, Brazil will bring with her, status as an Adidas All American, 1593 points scored between 9th – 11th grades, an average of 27 points per game, and rankings as #1 in South Jersey and #4 in the state of New Jersey.

The younger sister of Brandi Harvey-Carr, LEAP class of 2012, Brazil has continued a family legacy of success in women’s basketball and education.

Brandi is one of LEAP Academy’s most decorated student athletes, and she capped off a stellar career by scoring her 1,000th career point and leading the LEAP Varsity Girls’ Basketball team to the playoffs before accepting a full athletic scholarship to attend DePaul University. After completing her undergraduate studies, Brandi traveled throughout Europe to play professionally before returning to pursue a Master’s degree at the University of Pittsburgh. Brandi was truly one of LEAP’s brightest shining stars, and she recently made a commitment to begin giving back to the LEAP community by serving as an assistant basketball coach. It is a pleasure to watch Brazil as she follows her sister’s example and makes an impact of her own.

Brazil, you have made your LEAP family proud! We can’t wait to cheer you on in your collegiate career!
