LEAP Academy’s scholars awarded by the New Jersey Department of Education Seal of Biliteracy

June 8, 2018

Please join us in celebrating the accomplishments of nine of LEAP Academy’s most gifted and talented scholars, who were recently granted the prestigious distinction of the New Jersey Department of Education Seal of Biliteracy award! The Seal of Biliteracy was an initiative that began in 2008 as a movement to acknowledge and celebrate the hard work and determination of bilingual and multilingual students who have worked to achieve a level of mastery in multiple languages. On January 19, 2016, New Jersey became the 15th state to implement the legislated statewide Seal of Biliteracy, which is signified on high school diplomas and transcripts for graduating seniors. Each year, LEAP Academy has worked to encouraged students to bolster their acumen in foreign languages, and this is the third consecutive year (Tugba, could you fact check this for me) that students from LEAP Academy have been granted this important distinction!

As a culturally and ethnically diverse learning community, LEAP Academy embraces children and families from varied backgrounds. The NJ Department of Education Seal of Biliteracy Award exemplifies LEAP Academy’s commitment to diversity, acceptance, and cultural competence, and these students are shining examples of the best and brightest scholars in our district!
