Educational Camping trip in Princeton Blairstown CenterJuly 24, 2018
Over the weekend, six chaperones were able to provide 40 students with an overnight camping experience at the Princeton Blairstown Center, located in Blairstown, NJ. All students and chaperones participated in team-building and leadership development activities, led by PBC facilitators and staff. Students walked away having experienced a “night hike”, s’more-making around a campfire and various high and low rope elements, ranging from brain teasers on the ground, to rock climbing up an industrial sized rock climbing wall. Although it rained both days, our students remained in positive spirits and we were still able to complete all scheduled activities (the rain actually made the night hike a lot more fun).
Thanks to our lovely chaperones: Xavier, Kassandra, Shantina, Brittany and Scott for giving up your weekend to ensure our students had this amazing experience. Without your hard work in helping to coordinate the two-day orientation beforehand, and implementation of the trip, this opportunity may not have been provided. Thank you for your time and your dedication to our students. I know from personal experience that they will never forget it.
I participated in camping excursions at PBC when I was in high school for two years and it was wonderful to see some familiar faces there and meet staff who remembered our school. We were treated very well, the facility was very clean and their staff was organized and accommodating. Additionally, the bus ride to and from the facility was flawless, which provided us the opportunity to arrive early and get back home ahead of schedule. The driver was friendly, the bus was clean and the students appreciated having such a comfortable ride. Thank you for your work Ms. Norma!
Thanks again to everyone who made this trip possible and I am excited to share the student reflections with you all!
I look forward to helping plan our next camping trip with PBC!
