Alfredo Santiago Ceremony

This school year has been off to quite a different start as LEAP students moved from partial in-person learning to full remote instruction until January 2021, due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Even in the midst of a pandemic, the LEAP leadership team wanted to ensure the academic achievements of our students did not go unrecognized. On December 4, 2020, the Center for College Access led the district in celebrating more than 500 Alfredo Santiago scholars! This year however, the celebrations looked different as Director of College Access, Marchelle Roberts, LEAP Academy class of 2008, hosted four unique virtual scholarship ceremonies, complete with student speakers and cheers from family members and other attendees throughout each one. This semester, the Alfredo Santiago Scholars program welcomed 207 new scholars and renewed 311 scholars, districtwide. Although the virtual ceremonies were a huge success, we look forward to being able to celebrate our scholars in-person at the next ceremony!
