LEAP Scholar Receives Prestigious Award!

The LEAP Academy community recently received some long-awaited news when it was announced that LEAP Class of 2020 graduating senior Hung Nguyen was awarded the prestigious Gates Foundation Scholarship. Hung has already made the decision to attend the University of Pennsylvania, where he will follow in the footsteps of several LEAP alumni. Among the UPenn Quaker family are LEAP class of 2015 graduate Destiny Bingham, LEAP class of 2016 graduate Sidia Mustapha, and LEAP class of 2019 graduate Criston Young. Hung also joins previous Gates Foundation award winners and finalists including class of LEAP 2014 graduate and Princeton University alum Casandra Monroe. Hung was also joined by class of 2020 senior Inaaya Coleman, who was selected as a Gates award finalist. The LEAP Academy community would like to send our most sincere congratulations to Hung Nguyen, for this tremendous accomplishment! Also, a special thanks to LEAP Fabrication Laboratory Director Christopher McCrum and LEAP Early College Professor Melvin Monte, who worked to support Hung thru the application process.
