LEAP Stays Green, Even During Quarantine!

March 30, 2020
As the winter months thaw and blossom into Spring, LEAP Academy has continued its efforts to Go Green! Despite being on quarantine, our LEAP scholars continue to blossom just like the seedlings in Spring! Buds of basil, cilantro, and oregano have begun to break through the soil in LEAP Academy’s Greenhouse, and LEAP Academy students have gotten to see the reward of their hard work through remote learning and instruction! Though our LEAP scholars are no longer in our building, they continue to attend real-time class meetings with LEAP instructors, while receiving multi-level academic support through the Center for College Access.

The LEAP Academy district has grown over the past quarter century, just like sprouting seeds, under the leadership of LEAP Founder & Board Chair Dr. Gloria Santiago, whose vision has helped transform the lives of countless students and families. The LEAP Academy community has endured over the years and persevered through obstacles, always emerging triumphantly to continue educating children and saving lives. The challenge of overcoming the COVID-19 is yet another obstacle in our path. On behalf of the entire LEAP leadership team, we encourage you all to stay safe, sanitized, and socially distanced (at least 6 – 10 feet) as much as possible, so that we can all overcome this challenge together!

Special thanks to Ms. Dunkley for taking special care of these precious plants while we are on remote instruction, and to our 4th – 8th grade College Access staff Amir Ayres and Jozian Molina for providing updates
