LEAP Academy Students Explore the Power of Trees Through Hands-On Learning
January 16, 2026Thanks to a generous grant from Sustainable New Jersey, seventh-grade students at LEAP Academy recently took part in an engaging, hands-on learning experience titled “Benefits of Trees.” The initiative provided students with a unique opportunity to explore the critical role trees play in supporting healthy environments and thriving communities.
In collaboration with Rutgers University, students participated in experiential research activities that examined how trees improve air quality, strengthen ecosystems, and contribute to healthier urban spaces. Through guided observation, data collection, and discussion, students connected classroom science concepts to real-world environmental solutions.
The program reflects LEAP Academy’s continued commitment to sustainability and inquiry-based education. By empowering students to investigate environmental challenges firsthand, the initiative encourages critical thinking, environmental stewardship, and a deeper understanding of how local actions can have a lasting global impact.
